Workshop with Leo DEMONT and Xiang LI
EN: The goal of this one-week workshop was to design a table using 3D printing and the fused deposition modelling (FDM) technique. Our constraint was to only work with standard solids. We decided to create a module that would allow greater freedom of form. We therefore designed a mould, which would be used to reproduce any number of identical pieces. The prototype of the piece here was made of cement. This project was an opportunity to address questions regarding optimisation of form, assembly and 3D printing.
FR: L’objectif de ce workshop d’une semaine fut de concevoir une table en utilisant la technique de l’impression 3D par dépôt de fil. La contrainte étant de travailler à partir d’éléments volumiques standards, nous avons décidé de créer un module permettant une grande liberté formelle. Nous avons alors conçu un moule lequel permettra une reproduction de nombreuses pièces identiques. Le prototype de la pièce est ici réalisé en ciment. Ce projet permit d’aborder les questions d’optimisations formelles, d’assemblages, et d’impression 3D.
